For the first time since uni I have painted something specifically for an exhibition. I need to be painting more but this one took quite a while and I really enjoyed the challenge. The exhibition will be at Metrochurch in the city (details to come later) in the next few months and I’m excited about it! Here’s my painting:
This was very difficult to get a good shot of, for some reason his hand looks smaller in this photo but not in real life, might be the angle. Here are the details:
Title: ‘Baldo, o yari, Baldo, he drinks’
60cm x 75cm, Acrylic on Canvas
His smile is what caught my attention back in 2001 when we visited the village of Say (sigh) in Niger, West Africa. Its only recently that I discovered his name is Baldo. Baldo was the only Christian in the village at the time and it radiated from his face.
‘Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
