April 2nd, 2008

In an earlier post I showed you my egg which is my entry into the polymer clay artists guild of Etsy’s March Challenge. Well, the voting has opened and you can vote by visiting our website which is found here - PCAGOE.

Quoted from the website:
VOTE for your favorite entry and be entered in a drawing to WIN one of two April prizes. The first is the What’s black and white and red all over? prize pack of 8 polymer clay items, all handmade with love by members of PCAGOE.

Don’t feel obliged to vote for me, vote for whoever you think is best.

This is what my egg looks like:

March 29th, 2008

I have spent some time today pairing up pendants in my big pile that are ready to list and listing them in my online stores. I listed 9 pairs and a set of three tonight (a total of 21 pendants). The prices on these are anywhere from $18 per set through to $30 (US) which is a bargain considering I would normally sell these for around that price each strung on a cord. I am hoping to clear out my stock a bit ready for our big move. There is quite a range as you can see from the photos below.

March is almost over but I am continuing to divert all profits towards Camp La Joya for the month of April. I have made just four sales this month so it would be nice to have a bit more to send over to the project. If you are considering spending some money on gifts, feel free to take a browse of my Etsy store (click) which is in US dollars or my wahmania store (Aussie dollars). I am also happy to create custom work for you (as a healthy escape from packing!) so if you see something but would like it in another colour, or even have a completely different or one off style in mind, feel free to contact me.

Here are tonight’s listings:

March 20th, 2008

I have just listed some new beads in my Etsy shop for sale. Within the first day I sold one set so thats exciting. I can give you an update on how much has been raised so far for Camp La Joya in Peru. So far I have made four sales this month so thats a total of $AUD63.30 or $USD58.00. It costs $40 (US) for a one week camp for one child so this means that a few more sales and I will have enough for two kids.

Here are the new beads for sale in my Etsy shop:

A reminder also that there is still 10% off storewide in my wahmania shop and I will be adding items to this in a week or two. All money from this sale goes to Camp La Joya as well.

March 3rd, 2008

I’m currently have a sale in my wahmania store - 10% off for the whole of March. I would love to clear out some of my 2007 stock to make way for the mountain of new things I have made for sale.

ALL PROFITS FROM THIS SALE GO TOWARDS THE WORK OF SIM AT CAMP LA JOYA, PERU (click to see a previous post about their work)

I am in the process of changing the direction of my online stores. I will be slowly cutting out two of them (mintd and madeit) when their time runs out and focussing only on Etsy and Wahmania. I want to include a line of new products that I have in mind including my hand sewn pincushions which you can see in a previous post here. One day I hope to include more of my painting and I have a line of gocco prints ready to finish too. I’m not putting any pressure on myself though so this will probably happen over the course of the year.

Some of the items on sale in my Wahmania store (click to go straight there) are shown below.

The Polymer Clay Artist’s Guild Of Etsy is currently running the voting for our August Challenge. The theme was ’something inspired from the ocean’. You can vote for the entry of your choice here at the guild website:

July 21st, 2007

I have entered a couple of challenges for July and thought I’d show you what I’ve entered.

Firstly, I have entered the Polymer Clay Artists Guild of Etsy July Challenge where the theme is memories of summer. This is my entry:

img_5529.JPG

As we have around 20 rose bushes out the front of our house, roses are the fragrance of summer for me. I was going to try something completely different to do with Christmas in Australia (I think all the other entries come from the USA) but it just wasn’t working. I’m glad this came together ok. You will be able to view all the entries for the challenge and vote at the pcagoe website (clicky there) from the 26th July. This is for sale in my etsy store here.

The second Challenge I’ve entered is for the Art Bead Scene blog with the theme of Mermaid’s Grotto. Now, to be honest, I’m REALLY not into mermaids so I’ve pretty much avoided them for this but I have focussed more on the ocean. So, here’s my entry:

This necklace was designed using the image of collecting things from the beach and stringing them. Of course I have used very different items than those found on the beach but the casual charm of the beachy lifestyle can be seen here alongside beautiful elegance. This is for sale in my etsy store here.

The whole pendant is 3cm in diameter (just over 1″). It is 7mm thick at the highest point. This pendant has been strung on a 46cm (18″) long silver plated chain. It has been finished off with a coat of glossy varnish.

Have you heard of an ACEO? It stands for Artist Cards Editions and Originals and collectors buy them. They are kinda like baseball cards for collecting but are each an original piece of artwork. The main rule is that it must measure 2.5″ x 3.5″ and be original. You can make an ACEO out of any medium from paper to wood and of course…polymer clay.

I’ve attempted my first two ACEO’s and have put them for sale on my Etsy store. One is more ‘modern’ and the other more asthetic. One is based on my ‘funky bubbles’ range and the other draws on our experience in Africa. They are both very different to each other and should attract very different buyers. Here they are:

I recently put some items in a local shop in Pioneer Village in Armadale for sale. I was a bit concerned that I hadn’t sold any and was even avoiding checking in to find out. Sure enough, nothing had sold but the shop owner (Sandra) is a great lady and suggested I bring in some new pendants and made up jewelery and swap them over.

We went past there yesterday and did that and included some earrings and some of my newest handpainted pendants. She now would like me to bring in some miniature food to sell there in her kiddies section so I’ll be making a few mini pizzas and cupcakes this week!

Here are the new pendants - even though these are for sale in the shop (which you’re welcome to visit and buy from), I am happy to custom make any of these for you. Of course, being hand painted means that each one will vary.

I have one more which is almost a coral colour with white swirls and gold findings (including a gold plated chain) but I’m yet to take a photo. I’ll upload it here when I do and it will go for sale in my Etsy and Wahmania stores.
