Miss K went to a birthday party last weekend and the invitation had spiderman on it. She decided to make a card for the birthday boy by copying the picture. I thought this was pretty good for a 5 yr old!
I love that she loves to draw and that she does so freehand. Give her a colouring in book and she’ll colour the pictures but usually add to them. I’ve always been a bit reluctant to give colouring in books, I’d prefer that she went freehand and draws what she sees. She seems to enjoy freehand drawing much more anyway. Go Miss K!

Our nectarines are growing beautifully but unfortunately the bugs have gotten to them before we could ward them off! This is still progress as we didn’t get much fruit last year. Oh well, hopefully we’ll remember to ward off the bugs next year in time!
This is proof that the bugs have attacked!

The Christmas decorations are up at our local shopping centre and I must say, they are very pretty. Everything is in white or crystal with a touch of silver. It makes a nice change from green and red i think! Miss K couldn’t help but be herself and play around in front of the camera:

This shot is a bit blurry but WE FINALLY HAVE FINCH EGGS!!! When we got the finches last April (as our anniversary presents to each other) we were told they would breed like mad. Maybe they were too young or the conditions haven’t been right but we are hoping for a few baby finches. When I checked, I have blogged about the lack of finch eggs five times this year so this is a nice change!
The incubation period is 14 days and so far I think they have been in the nest for somewhere between 2-5 days. We are hoping to see the eggs hatch before we go away in a few weeks time.

As I said for yesterday’s post, here is Little L’s dress and matching doll’s dress. She doesn’t know it but she’s getting an Australian Girl Doll for Christmas too so this little dress is for that doll, not Miss K’s. These dresses are so quick and easy to make. I’m a slow sewer because I worry about not doing it right but for someone experienced this would take less than half an hour I reckon. I will do a few more I think before we go away!

A couple of days ago I made this little dress for Miss K with a matching one for her Amy doll. I’ve done this pattern many times and this time drafted my own a little it, changing it from a zip at the back to velcro on the shoulders and adjusting the size to fit her. This will be a play dress when we are away in Cairns over summer and I’m hoping to make her at least one more. I’ve made one for Little L too and will put that in the next blog post. I had to draft the pattern for the doll’s dress which was fairly easy although I’ve made a couple of adjustments to it so that it fits better next time.

I know this photo is a bit blurry but look how brave my little girl is! Talk about opposites, there is no way on the planet that Little L would touch a lizard let alone pick it up. She screams till she cries if she sees a spider! Miss K on the other hand is quite happy to touch the creepy crawly and the slimy. They let this little garden lizard go but I think it dropped its tail out of fright. She carried that around for a bit too! Yuck!
PS. Only 38 ‘Photo of the Day’ posts to go and I’ve made it to a whole year. Phew!

Its been quite humid here in Perth, nothing like it is in Cairns but still, humid for good ol’ hot and dry Perth. Of course if you have curly hair the humidity makes it curl even more so Little L has been running around with little ringlets this week. Very sweet!

This is my photo of the day from yesterday. We had some good friends over for lunch and I made a Pavlova for dessert. My friend added chocolate around the outside! I actually made this one pink just for Miss K, the inside was like pink marshmallow! Yum!
