Autumn Seeds

I’ve been meaning to get out and plant some seeds with the girls for some time and this week (apparently) was the best time this month to do that so as soon as the sun was shining (it was raining all week) we went out and did just that.

My hubby gave us all the seeds he had, a variety of herbs, flowers and vegetables so we planted one of each. The girls really enjoyed it although little L lost interest fast (being 21 months thats understandable). Miss K did a great job all the way along. Here’s the pictorial story of our morning of seed sowing.

We collected all that we needed

Put the seed raising soil into the punnets

Opened our seed packets and got them ready

Miss K planted some after poking holes, if the seeds were really tiny I put the seeds in for her. I wrote the name of each on a pop stick and put it at the top of the row. We planted a variety of green leafy veggies (rocket, spinach, silver beet etc..) mint, lemon balm, lemon grass, cabbage and a variety of flowers such as snapdragons.

Then transported them all to the greenhouse where Miss K watered them with a seasol mix.

Ta daaaaa

I plan on trotting the girls out to the greenhouse every now and then to watch them sprout and grow. So much fun and a great way to teach them where our food comes from.
