The other day I introduced our doll’s house renovations. This week K and I got some more of the flooring done. She really loves it each time we do a little bit more. Here she is pulling the backing off one of the laminate tiles:
In order to cut the tile to fit around the fixed staircase I made a paper template by squishing it along the edges of each area (walls and stairs) and then cutting along the marks. Its hard to get it exact but its better than guessing.
Same goes for this section which was a little tricky to fill. The laminate tiles were not big enough to just cut out the parts that were not needed so I did it in several pieces. You can’t really tell unless you look closely anyway.
Here’s the completed wooden floorboard look.
She’s so proud of it!
We also did the bathroom floor with a marble slate looking tile.
We have plans for carpeting the other two sections with some fake fur which I will first attach to some thick cardboard and glue down. I just need to find the right cardboard. That was enough for a 4 yr old to do in one little section of time, she wanted to play with the dolls house after that. I’m also thinking of putting little curtains up inside the house as well as the scrapbooking paper wallpaper. She seems to be taking much better care of her doll’s house since we started working on it I noticed so maybe this is a good lesson in valuing things that you make yourself.
