Happy New Year to you all in the land of blogging! I hope 2006 is wonderful for you.

Ok, usually when you talk about the weather with somene it’s as a conversation filler but our weather here in WA has been so unusual that it’s worth a mention. Normally by now we’re sweating it out with 30 - 40 degree (celcious) days but I’m sure we’ve only had two or three days when its been over 30. It’s meant to be 23 today.

According to the weather zone the forecast for the next week in Perth is:

Sat - 21 C Sun - 26 C Mon - 29 C Tues - 29 C Wed - 28 C Thurs - 27 C Fri - 28 C

I feel for anyone living over east at the moment, it seems that every other city and state except for ours is suffering with high temps up in the mid to high 30’s/low 40’s. I’m certainly not complaining.

Christmas day was pretty exhausting but we all had a good day. I did have a short time where I was stressed out when I was trying to get Kezi to sleep and still hadn’t got a lot of the food ready but it wasn’t long and all was well. I think Kezi had the best Christmas of all, she got sooooo many lovely gifts including a sweet little bracelet with her name on it from her grandparents and a rocking horse from her other grandparents. Next year she will be big enough to help my put the decorations on the tree!
PS. The plastic wrapper is on this candy cane and it was the first thing she’s ever held on her own!

Karen and I Christmas Day.

A little while ago I advertised my brother and sister-in-law’s blog Burns Abroad. I’d now like to welcome you to read a new blog put together by my best friend (and part of the Nullabor convoy I mentioned in earlier posts) called Kazza Of The West. I hope you enjoy reading them!

This year has been so big for me. For the previous three years it was me and hubby and our sausage dog. We were both studying and I worked for SIM. My parents lived in PNG and my brother lived over east. Here’s the list of things that have happened this year:

My parents came to live in Perth for the year
My brother and his wife came to live in Perth for 6 months
I became an Aunty for the first time
I graduated with a BA Arts (visual arts)
I became a mother for the first time
My sausage dog died
Our closest friends returned to live in WA (welcome back K, J, I, L, J, H and S, not to mention D, A and B - see if you lot can work that one out).

These are all huge things and they all happened in one year! Next year will be very different. My time will be divided between my little one and our new role as SIM State Directors. My parents, brother, sister-in-law and nephew will all go to live in PNG and you never know, maybe we’ll get another dog! (not for quite some time though).

Hi to all those who read my blog. I was thinking it would be nice to see who drops in so if you’re reading this, can you leave a comment, even if it’s just a ‘hi, I was here (or if you’re from the 80’s ‘I woz ‘ere). I’m just getting curious as to who reads my little corner of the net.

It’s so nice to have our friends here now. They arrived from their week long trek across Australia. I’m thankful to the Lord for bringing them all across the country safely. Here’s what the cars looked like in our street!

I thought I would highlight a special project that SIM is doing in Loja, Ecuador, just in case anyone might like to give the Ecuadorians a special Christmas prezzie. You are able to donate to this project online.
Here’s he blurb of which you can read the full version here:

“Radio Hope is a joint ministry of SIM, HCJB, WMPL (World Mission Prayer League), CBI (Conservative Baptists) and IMB (Southern Baptists), seeking to bring the message of salvation to one of the largest least reached areas of Ecuador in South America, through radio….Beginning June 2004, theological instruction will be offered on Radio Hope through the cooperation of HCJB in Quito, a local theological seminary, and SIM. The radio-based studies will offer an academic title to those who complete the courses. A goal of the team of announcers, missionaries and board members is for Radio Hope to be run by Ecuadorian nationals.”

It seems that our friends have made good time. They phoned today to say that they’re at the town of Nullabor already, that’s not bad considering how much they’re taking with them!
