I watched the show 20 to 1 last night on Channel 9, it was about the top 20 songs in Australian music of all time. It was fun to listen to some of the songs that came out of my high school era (late 1980’s, early 90’s) but I was surprised at their number one choice which was ‘Friday on my mind’ by the Easybeats. I guess it’s not something I grew up with or a song from my generation. I’d heard it plenty of times before but it wouldn’t have been my number one choice. I was pretty pleased that great Aussie songs such as ‘Great Southern Land’ by Icehouse and ‘Land down under’ by Men at work made it into the top 20. Those songs are such great Aussie icons. Which song would you have put as the top all time best Aussie song?

I really enjoyed reading this post by Keith over at Under The Acacia’s. I’m looking forward to finding out what happened in part two of his post of his experience with polygamy in West Africa. I agree with his conclusions so far and am looking forward to the outcome.

As a quick report on the weekend activities (Seize The Day Missions Information Day), I can say that the Lord blessed the day. It went very well with 18 people turning up for the meetings plus about 15 ’staff/leaders/SIM council members’. We all learnt a lot and benefited from the years of experience the workshop leaders had and I just hope that those who came along will continue on in their missionary journey, whatever part of that road they may be on.

21, that’s how many people I now have signed up for the SIM Seize The Day Missions Info ‘Camp’ this weekend. I had to adjust the program so that there would be a Saturday only program (no camp) as there just wasn’t enough people for the whole weekend but that’s ok, I’m not in control of these things, God is.

21 is pretty amazing considering I had around 6 only 5 days ago. God is good and he’s faithful. I’ve learnt a great lesson in what success really is, it’s being faithful to what God has asked you to do and leaving it up to him to act.

This is the saying that I’ve stuck by for many years now:
“Dare you go where the Holy Spirit leads and leave the consequenses up to Him”.

I have been wondering and praying about why I haven’t received a hoard of registrations for the camp that I’m running in under two weeks time and my initial thought was ‘if there are no campers, then there will be egg on God’s face’, which is a really bad thing to think (but I’m being honest). I thought, ‘nah, there’s never egg on God’s face, he’s always in control’ and then the Lord gave me this verse:
Isaiah 48:11 ‘For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another.’
I know that no matter what happens, the Lord is in control. Even if I do get under 10 people come along, it’s definately quality not quanitity that’s important. I’m still praying for 30 people but I know that the Lord is in control.
